Toad Press stands for Tariq’s Online (Almost) Daily Press. If you’re wondering who Tariq is - that’s me!
I started Toad Press on July 20, 2026 as a means of creative escape from the jumbled, fast-paced, algorithm-driven world in which we find ourselves. The initial idea was to release daily mini essays on a simple, small website reminiscent of early colorful web pages of the early 2000s.
Think of it like a small newspaper with something new every day. And, although the word ‘almost’ is in the title, I have been publishing updates daily!
Unlike a newspaper, you won’t ever find advertisements cluttering the pages. Like a newspaper, each day is a little different. Which leads to the next question: if you post updates daily, where are all the archived essays?
Another great question!
In the spirit of keeping things dynamic and delightfully fleeting, there is no archive of old essays other than on the homepage; once an essay is posted it will be available to read for three days (today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow). Once it cycles out, it’s gone. For now. In the future, Toad Press may compile themed or favorite essays in a neat collection for all to read once more!
Besides the essays, on Sundays we release a new update to our ongoing comic series Slice of Toad. These comics will always exist on the website on their separate page, you can always find a link to these comics on the home page.
As we grow, we hope to post works from our creative friends and these, too, will always exist on their own pages.
